JULY 2011 --
Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2008-2011 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 4X4,
manufactured from February 14, 2008, through March 28, 2011; model year
2008-2011 Dodge Ram 3500 Cab Chassis 4X2, manufactured from February 14, 2008,
through March 28, 2011; and model year 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4X4,
manufactured from February 14, 2008, through August 15, 2008, because the left
tie rod ball stud may fracture. This condition tends to occur during low speed
parking lot type maneuvers when the customer is making a tight turn.
Additionally, model year 2003-2008 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 vehicles may have
received the affected tie rod assembly as a replacement part, during normal
service. This condition could result in the potential loss of directional
stability in the left hand front wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers
will inspect the tie rod ends for relative orientation and replace the left
outer tie rod as required, and perform a front-end toe alignment as needed. This
service will be performed free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided
an owner notification schedule. 11V-350

NEWS:
Chrysler recalls
286,000 pickup trucks to
fix steering
YAHOO NEWS --
July 17, 2011
Chrysler Group LLC will
recall about 286,000
Dodge Ram pickup trucks
because of potential
problems with tie rod
assemblies that may
increase the risk of a
crash, the automaker and
U.S. safety regulators
said on Wednesday.
To be recalled are
2008-2011 Ram 2500 and
3500 4x4 models;
2008-2011 Ram 3500 Cab
Chassis 4x2 models; 2008
Ram 1500 Mega Cab 4x4
models; and 2003-2008
Ram 2500 and 3500
models, according to a
filing with the National
Highway Traffic Safety
Administration.
About 243,000 of the
recalled trucks are in
the United States. Of
those, about 74,000 have
already received service
on the tie rod assembly,
the NHTSA filing said.
Chrysler recalls 286,000
pickup trucks
Also, about 35,000
pickups in Canada will
be recalled as well as
some 2,750 in Mexico and
5,700 in other
countries.
A Chrysler spokesman
said there have been a
few crashes and at least
one minor injury as a
result of the issue.
The vehicles "may
experience a fracture of
the left tie rod stud,"
Chrysler told the NHTSA.
"This condition tends to
occur during low-speed
parking lot type
maneuvers when the
(driver) is making a
left turn."
This may result in the
"loss of directional
stability" in the left
front wheel, increasing
the risk of a crash,
Chrysler said.
Chrysler said the risk
is highest when making a
sharp, 90-degree turn.
Chrysler has not yet
determined when
customers will get
letters alerting them to
the recall.
Chrysler is part-owned
and managed by Fiat SpA.

Chrysler recalling
trucks and SUVs
YAHOO NEWS -- December
31, 2010 Chrysler recalled nearly
150,000 trucks and SUVs on Thursday to address
problems including steering, air bag issues and the
potential for trucks to stall.
Chrysler Group LLC is
conducting three separate recalls to fix the
problems, which were posted on the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration's website.
The first recall
covers about 22,000 Dodge Ram trucks from the
2008-2011 model years to address steering problems.
Chrysler said it had received 86 complaints over
three years but was not aware of any crashes or
injuries connected to the issue.
The second involves
about 65,000 2009 model year Dodge Journey SUVs to
fix side air bags that might not deploy. Wires
within the front door could break and interrupt the
circuits for the side impact sensors, causing the
air bag warning light to go off and potentially
preventing the air bag from deploying in a crash,
the car manufacturer told the government.
Chrysler said it has
received 23 complaints from customers about the air
bag lamp. There have been no reports of crashes,
fires or injuries.
The last recall includes
about 57,000 Ram 1500 trucks from the 2011 model
year to fix components in rear axles that could
cause the trucks to stall. Chrysler said it has
received 20 reports of axle bearing noise or
failure, most coming within 500 miles of driving. It
has not received any reports of crashes or injuries.
The recalls are expected
to begin in February. Chrysler said owners can call
(800) 853-1403 for more information.

Chrysler recalling 76K Dodge Ram trucks
YAHOO NEWS -- December
14, 2010 Chrysler is recalling about
76,000 Dodge Ram pickup trucks to fix a power
steering issue that could lead to brake pedals that
are slow to return after the driver applies them.
The recall affects
certain 2010-2011 model year Dodge Ram trucks built
from March 2009 through October 2010.
Chrysler said some
trucks with diesel engines and a hydroboost brake
system could be equipped with a power steering
reservoir cap with excessive vent pressure levels.
The excessive levels
could lead to brake pedals that are slow to return
and make the brake lights remain on, potentially
causing a crash.
Chrysler said it will
notify owners and dealers will replace the steering
reservoir cap free of charge.

engine components could
cause a fire. Dealers
will inspect and replace
as necessary the power
steering pressure hoses
free of charge. The

problems that could pose safety risks.
Chrysler's recall affects about 26,000 cars and

Chrysler is not aware of any fires or injuries because of the problem, which was
discovered by the company that supplies the hose to Chrysler.
The recall affects some 2010 models of the
Chrysler 300 and Sebring, the Dodge Avenger, Charger, Challenger and Journey,
and some 2011 Dodge Ram pickups.
Only vehicles built between June 24 and Aug. 30

Dodge Trucks Recalled
WASHINGTON (AP) Dec 7, 2007 - Chrysler LLC said Friday it is recalling nearly 600,000 Dodge trucks and vans to address concerns that the vehicles could shift out of park without the key in the ignition.
The recall affects 576,417 2001-2002 Dodge Dakota trucks, Dodge Durango sport utility vehicles and Dodge Ram vans and the 2002 Dodge Ram pickup. In some cases, long-term wear on the gearshift assembly could erode the height of the shift blocker, creating the potential for the vehicle to shift out of park.
Chrysler spokesman Max Gates said there have been nine incidents involving injuries connected to the issue. No fatalities have been reported, he said in an e-mail.
Owners will be notified beginning in January 2008 and dealers will replace the gearshift blocker and bracket assembly.
In the interim, vehicle owners are advised to use the parking brake at all times when the vehicle is not in use, Gates said.
