NEWS:   Chrysler recalls Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger; Tires:pressure monitoring and regulating systems
DETROIT NEWS -- January 14,  201
2

JANUARY  2012 -- Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 and the Chrysler 300 SRT8 vehicles manufactured from May 2, 2011, through November 17, 2011, for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 138, "tire pressure monitoring system" (tpms). As built, the tpms does not warn the driver when a tire is 25 percent below the recommended pressure. The recalled vehicles notify the customers when the tire pressure reaches 22 psi rather than the required 24 psi. Underinflated tires can result in tire overloading and overheating, which could lead to a blowout and possible crash. Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will reprogram the vehicle’s tpms. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during february 2012. Chrysler's safety recall number is l43. Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.Safercar.Gov . 12V-004

MORE RECALL INFO:

SEPTEMBER 2011 -- Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2012 Chrysler vehicles, including 200 and Town and Country models, Dodge vehicles, including Charger, Durango, Grand Caravan and Journey models and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured from August 31, 2011, through September 13, 2011, that are equipped with 3.6L engines. These engines may experience connecting rod bearing failure due to debris inside the engine block. Connecting rod failure may lead to engine seizure which may increase the risk of a crash. Chrysler will notify owners and replace the engine free of charge. This is Chrysler safety recall L33. The safety recall is expected to begin during October 2011.   11V-487

OCTOBER 2010 -- Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2010 Chrysler Sebring, 300, Charger (LX) and Dodge Challenger (LC), Avenger (JS), and Journey (JC), as well as model year 2011 Dodge Ram light duty pickup (DS) vehicles. Some of these vehicles may experience a separation at the crimped end of the power steering pressure hose assembly. Leaked power steering fluid onto hot engine components could cause a fire. Dealers will inspect and replace as necessary the power steering pressure hoses free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during November 2010.   Chrysler's recall campaign number is K26. 10V-475

NEWS:   Safety problems prompt Chrysler recall

YAHOO NEWS -- November 11,  2010 –  Chrysler is recalling a total of 26,000 vehicles to fix problems that could pose safety risks.

Chrysler's recall affects about 26,000 cars and pickup trucks that have power steering hoses that can develop leaks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its website that steering fluid hoses can separate at the crimped end and leak fluid on the engine, potentially causing a fire.

Company spokesman ... said Wednesday that Chrysler is not aware of any fires or injuries because of the problem, which was discovered by the company that supplies the hose to Chrysler.

The recall affects some 2010 models of the Chrysler 300 and Sebring, the Dodge Avenger, Charger, Challenger and Journey, and some 2011 Dodge Ram pickups.

Only vehicles built between June 24 and Aug. 30 are affected by the recall, and others do not have the problem, Company spokesman said. Chrysler will notify all owners of the affected cars and trucks sometime in October, he said.

"We know which vehicles. We'll send letters to owners letting them know that this is a voluntary safety recall and to bring them in and it'll be replaced at no cost," Company spokesman said.

MORE RECALL INFO:

MAY  2010 -- Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2010 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, Charger, Jeep Commander, Grand Cherokee and Dodge Ram vehicles. These vehicles may have been built with a wireless ignition node (WIN) module exhibiting a binding condition of the solenoid latch. The result of the defect could lead to a condition where the key may be removed from the ignition switch (WIN module) prior to placing the shifter in park. This could result in the potential for unintended vehicle movement and could increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the WIN module free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during July 2010.  Chrysler's recall campaign number is K08. 10V-200

NEWS:  2010 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Models Recalled

ConsumerAffairs.com -- May 17, 2010  --  Chrysler Group LLC is recalling about 40,000 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models from the 2010 year. The vehicles may have a defective ignition switch that would allow the key to be removed prior to placing the shifter in the "park" position. This could lead to unintended vehicle movement.

The affected models are:

Dealers will inspect the ignition module and replace defective units free of charge when the recall begins in July 2010.

OCTOBER 2009 -- Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2009 through 2010 passenger vehicles equipped with rear wheel drive. These vehicles may have been built without a front wheel spindle nut. While driving, a tire and wheel separation could occur increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the tire and wheel assembly and if found without a spindle nut it will be repaired free of charge. The recall began on November 2, 2009.    09V-420

DECEMBER 2008 -- Chrysler is recalling 176 MY 2009 Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The tire pressure monitor (TPM) sensors may not transmit the actual tire pressure. This could result in the driver not being aware of low tire pressure. Operation of the vehicle with low tire pressure could result in tire damage and cause a crash without warning. Dealers will replace the TPM sensors. The recall is expected to begin during January 2009.  08V642

NOVEMBER 2008 -- Chrysler is recalling 20,283 MY 2006-2009 Charger and Magnum vehicles built with the police package and equipped with a column shifter. The gearshift cable may become disengaged from the steering column mounting bracket and cause an incorrect transmission gearshift position display. This could allow the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction startling the driver, and cause a crash without warning. Dealers will add a redundant locking mechanism to the gearshift cable at the mounting bracket to ensure proper retention and shift linkage function. The recall began on November 10, 2008.  08V583

NEWS:   Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, Charger Recalled

ConsumerAffairs.com -- July 22, 2008 --  Chrysler is recalling 5,509 2008 Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum and Charger sedans because of a manufacturing defect that could cause the half-shaft in the rear wheel drive vehicles to "disengage from the wheel-hub," according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Dealers will replace the rear axle hub nuts. The recall is expected to begin during August 2008.  08V295
